MA Handcrafted Friands started from our love of baking and wanting to create something a little different. We decided to focus on friands because we love their beautiful almond texture — slightly crisp on the outside, buttery and dense inside.

 

We bake in small batches and put a lot of care into every friand we make.

 

The name MA comes from the Japanese idea of ma — the little pause or space between things. We loved the thought of our friands being part of one of those little moments in the day: sitting down, having a coffee or tea and enjoying something delicious.

 

We’re a small Adelaide business and still very much at the beginning of our journey. Being at the markets, meeting people and seeing them come back for another friand has been one of the nicest parts of starting MA.
